Drake Relays
« on: April 25, 2009, 07:19:30 PM »
April 22nd, 2009 kicked off the first day of festivities at the 100th edition of the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa. Saturday brought forth the biggest day of events with many hard-fought races to be contested. What seemed to be the main event was the Men's mile. Alan Webb, Pablo Solares, and Chris Lukezic were some of the names that headlined the event which made for a decent field, to say the least. Coming off a 3:58 mile at the Kansas Relays recently, Alan Webb had all the confidence he needed to steal the show. The race was down to wire, but Webb came out on top in 4:00.61, beating out 2nd place runner Peter Vanderwesthuizen who was right behind Webb in 4:00.84. Taking 3rd place in the small field of seven was Pablo Solares in 4:00.88.
